Doxford park parent group is made up from parents that have problems in the family with drugs and alcohol. The need for this group arose from the concerns of Anti Social Behaviour relating to drugs and alcohol misuse in the area. Doxford park parent group is the only community group in Doxford Park based on identifying and supporting the needs of parents and carers of drug and alcohol users. The aim of the project is to encourage and support local people and organisations who have an interest in the future of the young people and residents of the City of Sunderland, to work together sharing ideas, information and skills. A communal approach will enable concerned parents and carers to access resources in which to relieve stress levels and gain support and advice. This project enables these parents/carers to meet other people in similar situation.
SAPs have helped several people have a positive outlook on their lives through the help and support they have received from our service.
